With warmer weather bringing more visitors to the Catlins, the Owaka Museum has been buzzing.
Museum director Kaaren Mitcalfe said in the past three weeks - and the past five days in particular - she had seen a large rise in the number of people visiting.
More Catlins residents were visiting too, something Ms Mitcalfe attributed to the "Face to Face" exhibition, a project by Catlins Area School pupils and teacher Glenda Landreth.
The show comprises photos and text relating to Catlins' unsung heroes and "good sorts".
The museum is also showing "Enchanted Garden", a collection of paintings by Balclutha artist Sue McPhee, until March 11.
For history buffs, a Catlins heritage tour around Tunnel Hill, Glenomaru and Otekura will be held on January 8.
