A West Otago house was destroyed by fire last night.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said the alarm was raised at about 7.30pm, and firefighters from Heriot, Millers Flat and Tapanui attended the incident at Moa Flat.
Unfortunately, the unoccupied farmhouse was fully involved when firefighters arrived, and was "on the ground" shortly after, she said.
Firefighters remained on site until about 10.40pm, tamping the embers and preventing further spread.
No-one was injured in the incident.
A fire scene investigator is due at the scene today to determine the cause of the blaze.
