A man is in a critical condition after he crashed a 4WD down a hill in the Catlins this afternoon.
A St John spokesman said the man was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital with critical injuiries after he crashed 50m down the hill.
Police, fire and ambulance were all called the incident which occurred in Tahakopa Beach Rd near Papatowai.
A police spokeswoman said police were called to scene at 12.50pm this afternoon and one person has been reported as trapped in the vehicle.
