"Kathy donates a lot of time and personal expense to quilting quilts that are donated to local charities.
"As a club we make a lot of quilts and she machine-quilts them, stitching on the pattern which keep all the layers together, at her own cost.
"This is time-consuming and uses a lot of thread and we really appreciate all her time and effort," spokeswoman Louise Wightman said.
Finished quilts are donated to local day-care centres, rest homes, women’s refuge, the hospital and where the group sees the need.
"Quilting is a pleasure and sharing that creativity with others makes it more worthwhile," group member Kathy said.
"People doing what they can to help others is what makes the community a better place."
