Just like in the story ...

Elise (6) and Hope (4) Barrie  express their delight at the sight of a fire engine outside the Cross Recreation Centre at Balclutha yesterday after watching a performance by children’s entertainer Mr Yipadee (real name Dean O’Brien).

Clutha District Libraries service centre manager Vicki Darling said about 160 parents and children attended the Mr Yipadee concert.

The entertainer told the children the story of a fire engine.  Afterwards, they were able to  have photos taken  with him,  as well as the fire engine outside.

Members of the Balclutha Fire Brigade  arrived after the event, which was held in conjunction with Clutha District Libraries.

Mrs Darling said the concert had a lot of audience participation and even the adults had grins on their faces.
