The truck was carrying timber framing from Dunedin to Queenstown on State Highway 8 when it left the road and crashed into a muddy ditch about 6.30am.
Constable Jim Jordan, of Milton, said the driver, a 22-year-old Mosgiel man, escaped injury. He was checked at the scene by St John.
Const Jordan said it appeared driver distraction might have contributed factor to the crash.
Contractors removed the load, and a crane removed the truck and trailer from the ditch.
