Wanaka police are appealing for information about a recent suspected arson attack on property near Luggate.
A house bus, which has sat unused on a private property near the Luggate red bridge, was recently discovered by its owners burnt out and police are trying to establish when it was set alight.
Constable Bruce McLean said the unused house-bus was kept in a "relatively" secluded rural spot, near the corner of Kane and McKay Rds.
It appeared some type of heavy machinery had been used to remove the engine before the bus was set on fire, he said.
The bus was not roadworthy and no-one had been living in the vehicle for at least six months.
A fire investigation officer had established the bus was burnt within the past month, Const McLean said.
"The smoke would have been able to be seen from Luggate. We think the fire may even have been lit as recently as two weeks ago," he said.
