South Otago farmer Sara Davis has created a Christmas display, just south of Clinton, showing Santa Claus and the Christmas Grinch having a tug of war with a Christmas cracker.
Who will win? Nobody knows.
She hoped, win or lose, both would entertain passengers in passing traffic on State Highway 1 and get them into the festive spirit, Mrs Davis said.
She created the agricultural arrangement as part of her entry in the annual Otago South River Care competition.
Last year, she won the competition with a giant toy buzzy bee sculpture made out of hay bales, and she won the competition again this year with her tug of war.

"It’s good to make people smile, especially with the kids going past in the cars.
"People go past and say ‘oh, look at that’.
"You can see them pointing — it’s quite cool."
Making displays out of hay bales appears to be becoming an annual family tradition on the farm, and now she is thinking hard about how she can take her next display "to the next level".
"I’ve got seven or eight months to do that, so there’s no rush."
