Hearing on plan tomorrow

Those making submissions on the Clutha District Council's draft annual plan can voice their views at a hearing in Balclutha tomorrow.

Submissions closed on Friday. About 70 were received, including six from council staff.

The Clutha District Council is finalising its draft annual plan for the 2013-14 year. The plan gives an update on year two of the long-term plan 2012-22, confirms the projects and services the council intends to deliver over the next financial year and also includes estimates of how much this is expected to cost.

Clutha district residents are facing a 3.35% rates rise under the council's draft annual plan, down from the 5.29% increase forecast in the long-term plan.

Council chief executive Charles Hakkaart said waste management had generated many submissions and 12 sought more frequent emptying of the green-lidded wheelie bin for general waste.
