Tokomairiro Community Hub nurse manager Dale Wyber yesterday said she was "really excited" about the news the hub was one of seven recipients of the Government’s community development scheme.
It will receive $80,000 a year for the next three years towards its work to identify what sorts of things the community needs, develop identified projects and strengthen the hub.
"It’s a great opportunity," Mrs Wyber said.
The hub in Union St has grown from housing two health and social services to 14 in the past two years.
Run under the auspices of the Milton Community Health Trust, other agencies using it include the Salvation Army, Methodist Mission, Plunket and Clutha Health First.
Some of the services include a foodbank, gambling support, intervention and probation services, as well as a midwife clinic.
