Garden wall grows

Teacher Christine Elder said the project was inspired by the garden wall in the Balclutha main street upgrade.

Bunnings had donated the vertical wall components.

``It's a living thing and it enhances our environment.''

The school planted natives as they were relatively low maintenance and more likely to survive cold conditions.

It was an ongoing project that pupils would be able to care for and maintain over the years.
