Kaitangata residents gathered to celebrate the Kaitangata Volunteer Fire Brigade's centenary over the weekend.
More than 200 people attended a public day on Saturday at Victoria Park. Old fire engines were on display, and there were stalls. There was also a helicopter demonstrating how a monsoon bucket was used to douse fires.
A hose-running competition between Kaitangata, Balclutha, and Milton volunteer brigades was held.
On Saturday night a dinner and cabaret evening was held to award Fire Service honours and celebrate the group's 100-year history. The celebrations concluded yesterday morning, with a church parade and barbecue lunch.
