Hundreds of music fans flocked to the Woodstock Lodge, south of Owaka to the inaugural Catlins River Festival on Saturday and yesterday.

Festival manager Jesse Gubb said the support from the community before and during the event had been fantastic.

Bands are already keen to return for the festival next year.

Dunedin-based singer and guitarist Julian Temple said he would definitely come back and had enjoyed playing in the two-day event: "It's an awesome venue, with a good crowd and a good vibe."

Acts included: The Nomad with King Kapisi and Oakley Grenell, Budspells, Left or Right, Oakley Grenell and Band, Knives At Noon, Julian Temple Band, and Alizarin Lizard.
