Fashion parade tomorrow to raise funds for school netball Gold Coast trip

Fashion will take centre stage in Balclutha tomorrow night.

A fashion parade will show winter ranges from five local businesses at the South Otago High School hall from 7.30pm.

Tour organiser Rachel Heller said the event was to raise funds for the school's netball team to travel to Australia later this month.

Former pupil and Dunedin-based image consultant Anita Greene will host the evening. School pupils, staff, parents, and grandparents will model outfits from Stirling Sports, H & J Smith, Entity, Roots and ChristinZ.

''We've been well supported by the community. It will be a great night.''

Mrs Heller believed this was the second fashion show held by the netball team to raise funds.

From April 23 to 30, the team will take part in a pre-season netball tournament on the Gold Coast.

''It's one of the many fundraisers to help get our netball girls to Australia. A few weeks ago we made 1400 dozen cheese rolls - it will be a while before I eat a cheese roll again.''

The 20-strong team has a fundraising target of $50,000.

Tickets were selling well, but seats were still available.

A raffle will be sold at the door, with prizes of a two-hour consultation session with Anita Greene and vouchers from the five fashion show retailers.

Tickets are available from South Otago High School.
