Clutha Vets CEO resigns

Clutha Vets chief executive Meredith MacKenzie has resigned.

Sources confirmed last night news of Ms MacKenzie's resignation was communicated to vet club members in a letter from chairman Garth Shaw, which was received yesterday.

No-one from Clutha Vets was prepared to comment, although Mr Shaw said he would make a formal statement on Monday.

Attempts to contact Ms MacKenzie yesterday were unsuccessful.

Earlier this week, the Otago Daily Times reported former board chairman Peter Allison had resigned and six vets - four from Balclutha and two from Milton - had tendered their resignations.

It is understood the vets disagreed with Ms MacKenzie's management style.

Vet club directors and management had begun trying to convince the six vets to withdraw their letters of resignation.

Ms MacKenzie was appointed chief executive in March last year.
