Birds of all shapes and sizes will be on display in Milton today.

The Milton Poultry Club's 67th annual show began yesterday and finishes today. The show is open from 10am to 4pm at Milton's Coronation Hall.

The show has attracted 380 entries this year across five main sections: poultry and bantams; fancy bantams; game; pigeons; and caged birds. Entries have come from as far afield as Ashburton and Invercargill.

Pictured is heavy breed section judge John Davies, of Waimate, examining a hen.

Birds were marked out of 100, and judged on colour, presentation, handling, and quality of breeding.

Mr Davies is a member of the Waimate and Oamaru poultry clubs, who has been a light-breed section judge for the past 15 years, and this year began judging heavy breeds.

He is passionate about duck showing, and hopes ducks will eventually be able to return to the Milton show.
