'Celebrity gladiators' at youth disco

The Kaitangata War Memorial Hall will resemble an ancient amphitheatre tomorrow night when the Black Gold Kai Club holds its annual youth disco.

The Black Gold Kai Club's activities aimed to help develop Kaitangata's future leaders.

This was the third year the disco had been held, and this year's theme was "Gladiator", event organiser Michelle Ramsay said.

There would be gladiator challenges, led by celebrity gladiators Balclutha singer Vicki Dick, Clutha District Youth Council mayor and Kaitangata local Brendan Morrison and fireman Damien Keenan - to keep everyone entertained, as well as the usual disco-dancing, she said.

The junior disco, for children pre-school to age 9, would start at 5pm, while the senior dance, for 10 to 17-year-olds, would begin at 7.30pm.
