Burglary, vandalism investigated

Police attended a series of burglary and vandalism incidents in the Clutha district  recently.

Senior Constable Tanya Grant, of Balclutha, said  a child’s BMX had been taken from a Barr St, Balclutha, property on Sunday. She  said it was a black, blue and red "Spiderman" bicycle with "16 inch" wheels and training wheels.

"This bike belonged to a 2-year-old who would love to get it back," she said.

In other incidents, a sun shade was cut and  burnt at Clinton Primary School  between November 11 and 14.

Also, a gate was  damaged on the corner of Koau and Yorston Rds at Finegand on the night of November 16.

Snr Const Grant said it appeared the gate had been knocked down and driven over, which resulted in cattle escaping.

Paddocks were also "ripped up" by a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

On Monday this week, it was discovered two Child, Youth and Family vehicles had had their windows smashed while parked in a car park.

Police were following a line of inquiry. She asked anyone who might have information about the theft and spate of vandalism to contact police.
