A man "danced'' with a burglar and had eggs thrown at him during a burglary in Balclutha - one of many in the town over the past month.
The man returned to his James St home on April 19 to find a man leaving the property.
The resident then found found another man inside the garage and the pair did "a dance'' on either side of the owner's vehicle.
The man had allegedly stolen juice, margarine and eggs, which he threw at the resident during the confrontation, before fleeing.
Police were called about 11pm.
Sergeant Martin Bull said the man was advised to lock his property but someone returned later that night and stole a box of Speight's.
"They were very bold.''
One of the men was described as 183cm tall, stocky, of European descent and aged in his late teens to early 20s.
He wore a light grey or blue hooded shirt and a beanie.
In another incident, someone entered the Balclutha St John headquarters on April 25-26.
The person broke into lockers and cupboards but there was no evidence of anything missing.
Police inquiries were continuing.
