Bob Jack, of Milton, has created a brilliant swathe of colour on Finlayson Rd, between Waihola and Taieri Mouth, by planting daffodils along 2km of roadside for 30 years.

Mr Jack used to own a farm at Milburn where the Otago Correctional Facility is now. He planted daffodils all around the property.

He later bought a forestry block on Finlayson Rd and planted daffodils on the roadside. In the past he had planted tulips but entire plants had been dug out, so he switched to daffodils.

"There's that many daffodils that when they get too thick I won't know what to do with them," he said, laughing.

Those wishing to see the daffodils should do so within the next two weeks before the bulk of the flowers died, he said.

People were welcome to pick the blooms, but should leave the plants in good condition.
