Three properties were burgled in Balclutha at the weekend, which police say is unusual.
Clutha-Taieri Area Response Manager Senior Sergeant Cynthia Fairley, of Balclutha, said all three burglaries appeared to have targeted alcohol.
In the first incident, a person entered a Barr St house between 9pm on Friday and 2.30am on Saturday.
It appeared medication was taken.
The second burglary, at Charlotte St, took place at 4.30am on Saturday.
A male was seen in the house before he was disturbed and ''took off''.
Alcohol was taken.
Snr Sgt Fairley did not have the details of the third burglary, but said it appeared the main motivation in all three had been alcohol.
''It could just be the one person.''
Burglaries were not usual in Balclutha and she reminded residents to keep their homes locked.
Snr Sgt Fairley also suggested people consider installing security lighting.
