Christmas has arrived in Waimate, with Santa - and 49 other Santas - yesterday involved in a variety of activities in the business area.
Waimate Promotions, in conjunction with Pro-Ject Waimate, decided to add a little quirkiness to the festive display in Queen St.
Waimate Promotions distributed 50 Santa suits free to retailers, asking them to come up with a novel idea and display Santa in a manner reflecting their business.
Santa donned a butcher's apron at Rural Meats Waimate, promoted the anti-drink-drive message outside the police station, worked outside Loot Jewellers and was flying off the Information Centre.
Outside the Rainbow Dairy, he was enjoying a very large coffee and in the Red Cross clothing shop, he was having first aid applied, after a close encounter with a chimney.
Queen St was looking particularly festive, with new street light decorations and festive flags.
