Two father-daughter duos will bring a fusion of Indian classical music with contemporary and traditional Irish music to Fairlie this month.

India Meets Ireland is travelling the country as part of Arts on Tour New Zealand (AOTNZ).

The collaboration features Basant and his daughter Sargam Madhur playing tablas (hand drums) and sitars (a stringed instrument) in the North Indian style, while Jon Sanders and his daughter Jenny Os will play bouzouki (lute) and guitar along with vocals.

The night will showcase the contrasts and highlight the common ground between the two cultures.

AOTNZ organises tours of outstanding New Zealand performers to rural and smaller centres throughout the country.

India Meets Ireland will play at Eat Cafe & Bar on February 16 at 6pm.

Tickets can be bought from the Fairlie Resource Centre.

The group will also play on February 17 at the Geraldine Royal India Restaurant at 7pm.

Tickets can be bought from the restaurant or Louk Clothing.
