After a successful concert series in May, the Rhyth-Mix singers are preparing to welcome spring with another concert series, "Love is in the Air".

Musical director Glenys Carson has chosen timeless songs for the choir to perform.

Also returning is 10-year-old Molly Fetu, of Geraldine, and the choir is delighted to welcome Christchurch concert pianist and music teacher Megoe Chen.

Chen has played piano from a young age, and also learned violin, guitar and drums. She studied at the University of Canterbury and fell in love with Christchurch when her family visited there.

Chen plays and teaches piano, violin, guitar and drums in Christchurch and at Mrs A’s Music School in Timaru.

Usually, she performs as a soloist, but she also accompanies a church choir and her students. Her favourite genre is classical jazz, in particular Gershwin.

The concerts promise to be a real treat with a high standard of performance.

The Timaru concert will be in Trinity Church on Saturday, September 7 at 2pm and in St Mary’s Church, Geraldine on Sunday, September 8 at 2pm.

Refreshments will follow the concerts, which are fundraisers for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Tickets are available from Newmans MusicWorks Timaru, Joosh in Geraldine and on the door ($20).
