Several State Highways throughout the region have reopened after being closed earlier today after yesterday's dumping of snow and cold overnight temperatures.

Kyeburn to Palmerston (SH85) has now reopened after being closed earlier today due to snow. Becks to Kyeburn (SH85), and Omarama to Tarras (SH8) through the Lindis Pass have now reopened but chains were essential.

This morning Queenstown Lakes District Council warned drivers of black ice around Arrowtown and the Arrow Basin and said there was likely ice on the Glenorchy Road,

Light snow had fallen between Wanaka and Cardrona but had been ploughed.

"Stay sharp, slow down and be prepared," it said.

Fulton Hogan said its crews were still ploughing and gritting in Manuherikia and Maniototo.

Naseby and Ranfurly and St Bathans and St Bathans Loop Rd were restricted to 4WD use only and chains must be carried.

Danseys Pass Rd was still closed.
