The execution of four search warrants in Dunedin and Queenstown has led to the siezure of drugs with a street value of $200,000 and the arrest of one man.
The joint Police and NZ Customs operation this week resulted in the seizure of 1kg of ethylone, a class C controlled drug, which has a street value of $200,000.
The man faces charges of importing ethylone and supplying ecstasy, which is a class B controlled drug.
Further charges are likely.
"This is yet another case of a young man taking a huge gamble with his future and risking everything for the chance to make easy money," Acting Detective Hamish Barrons, of the Southern District Organised Crime group, said.
The man appeared in the Invercargill District Court today.
As the matter is before the courts, police will not to comment further.
