Det Sgt Cameron said the woman remains in ICU and is being supported by her family, who travelled from Germany to be with her soon after the crash.
The woman was left in a black Honda Odyssey for several hours on Wednesday, March 13, after the car crashed over an embankment and became wedged between it and the rear of a building in the Gorge Road Retail Centre.
It was thought the crash happened between 3.45am and 6am - the woman was found inside the car about 10.30am.
Det Sgt Cameron said no charges had been laid yet and police were waiting on the results of forensic testing.
Police had earlier identified two other people believed to have been in the car before the crash, however, it remained unclear what had happened.
