The Argentinian travel agent arrived in Queenstown in May and soon heard about the 2010 American Express Queenstown Winter Festival being held this week.
"I read in the brochure they needed volunteers so I went and met the organisers. They are so friendly and really great people. I just do whatever they need me to do," he said.
He has not secured paid employment in the resort yet so has had the time to volunteer most days of the festival.
He has done a range of jobs from crowd control, setting up lighting for the Festival of Lights, organising the floats at the opening parade and setting up the dodgeball court for the Dodgeball Championships and the obstacle course for the Drag Race.
"It's a different experience enjoying the festival in a different way. It's a great experience because I have met so many people and I get to know about New Zealand and the Kiwi way. I get to be involved in the community," he said.
He also managed to find the time to enter some of the events like the Splash and Dash during the MoreFM Day in the Bay on Sunday.
"I had to jump in the lake. It was too cold but it was really fun. People are trying to amuse themselves. It was a great atmosphere," he said.
Mr Di Pinto has volunteered at events in Argentina, including the paralympics.
