Jazz enthusiasts are being treated to two free concerts this weekend, in Queenstown and Arrowtown.

The community events, hosted by Queenstown JazzFest Trust and Turn up the Music Trust, will feature local and Dunedin musicians.

Organiser Luke Baldock said it would once again be on a "smaller" scale.

Last year it downgraded the number of events and scrapped ticketed shows.

"We want to determine what shape the event will take to be relevant and sustainable in the future.

"Getting out of the venues and into the community has been historically successful."

Mr Baldock said the concerts demonstrated the trusts' commitment to supporting the jazz scene.

"It is something a little different for locals and also visitors.

"It is important to demonstrate that we have a vibrant and creative community and that arts and culture are alive and well in the Wakatipu."

Jazz in the Park will be held in two locations, Earnslaw Park, Queenstown, 11am and Buckingham Green, Arrowtown, 11.30am.

Performers include Queenstown Jazz Orchestra, Wakatipu High School band, Best Served Chilled, Wanaka trio Beats of Anticipation and Dunedin-based Afrobeat Band.
