Second-hand pieces and recycled fabrics are set to be the star of the show in Queenstown this Saturday night.

Sustainable Queenstown is bringing back its ‘ReFashion’ show, with more high fashion and ‘wearable art’ vibes, demonstrating the power of buying second-hand first, caring for and repairing clothes, and buying less.

A total of 13 designers are involved in the show, including two eight-year-olds, modelling their own upcycled outfits.

Designers include TIKKI Studio’s Nina Chen, who’ll be modelling a bed sheet and quilted duvet she’s turned into an outfit.

Models comprise local youth, who’ve taken classes with Chen, displaying outfits made from clothes donated to Happiness House, while op-shopping will also be available at the event.

Sustainable Queenstown resourceful communities programme manager Scott Kennedy says the event is a great way to show the community how much fun and style sustainable fashion can bring to the party.

ReFashion’s being held at Frankton’s Salvation Army — doors open at 6.30pm before the show starts at 7pm. Tickets cost $15, available via Humanitix.
