A Queenstown rugby store’s kitted out the Australia-bound year 8 Basin Bulls side after being approached by one of its players.

Eliott Kuhm, 12, made the request to Rugby Planet, which last Sunday kitted out the 22 Wakatipu/Arrowtown players with branded Adidas hoodies and performance T-shirts for training.

The team leaves July 7 for an eight-day tour in which they’ll play three games between Sydney and Newcastle.

Jamie Kirk, one of the Basin Bulls’ seven parent coaches, says the players come from four teams in the open grade year 7 and 8 comp.

Rugby Planet co-owner Miles Wilson says after the tough Covid times, when they rebranded, "we have come right again, and we just thought it’s time for us to support the local community".

"We really thought we should be trying to help the little rugby guys."
