Subdivision appeal

The decision to decline a resource consent to subdivide and develop a site near Millbrook Resort is being challenged with an appeal at the Environment Court this week.

If the appeal is successful, it could see six properties built on new lots at the 9.2ha plot known as Mill Farm Heights, which is located between the western side of Millbrook Resort and Malaghans Rd by Meadow Park.

The appellant, developer Spruce Grove Trust, which is owned by the Spary family of Arrowtown, had applied for the resource consent to subdivide the land in to 10 lots with a building platform on six of the lots as low-density residential development.

The application was declined by the Queenstown Lakes District Council, and had also been opposed by a group of affected parties, mainly neighbouring residents at the Millbrook Resort, who had stated the development would adversely affect views.
