Boutique Queenstown stationer Alyssandra Skerrett recently won three golds in the specialty products category of the annual New Zealand Pride in Print Awards, held in Wellington.
The golds were for two Queenstown wedding invitations and an invitation for an Inner Wheel New Zealand function in Wellington — Skerrett was formerly the service organisation’s NZ president.
Her business Striking Stationery has now won 21 golds since first entering the awards 10 years ago.
Additionally, it’s received 11 highly commendeds.
She says she’s in somewhat of a David and Goliath situation as she does everything by hand, whereas printing companies use the biggest and latest machinery.
Accounting for her success, Skerrett says "I’ve got a good eye for detail, and I love what I do".
"And I think when you love what you do, you put your passion, your heart and your soul into your work, which means you give your absolute best."
And explaining her passion for it, "I love it when a client comes to me to take their dream out of their head and make it real on paper".
