It was designed by Yelena Filipchuk and Serge Beaulie, of Hybycozo, and 10% of the profits from its eventual sale will go to supporting the Lakes District Arts Trust.
A plaque suggests the sculpture is for individuals to enter while contemplating "a new direction for themselves and for our communities".
It says the temporary installation is a nod to the interlude before international visitors return to Queenstown.
"This art piece will be here and will go away again as a fleeting visitor."
At night, the golden dome is lit up in different colours and was previously on display in Wanaka for six weeks.
