Santa paws-ed for photos at the top of Coronet Peak yesterday to raise funds for the SPCA.

Skifield manager Niger Kerr was the man in red, alongside Morgan Harteveld, Sophie Steenberg and photogenic dog Beau.

Santa was much in demand by pets and children alike for a Christmas snap.

SPCA Central Otago operation co-ordinator Emily Kerr was on hand with a squeaky toy to keep the dogs sitting still as photos were taken.

She said the NZSki and animal charity Santa Paws day was a great way to raise awareness and much-needed funds to look after surrendered pets.

"It’s really cool seeing people out with their pets, being happy and raising funds for animals that don’t have an owner that cares about them or gives them the love they deserve."

She said the SPCA needed an income stream to vaccinate, de-sex, de-worm and look after animals coming into its care.

Pups and their owners could also try out an assault course or ride the Coronet Express gondola at yesterday’s event.
