The day saw students parade through the CBD streets, waving flags of their countries, before finishing with an official ceremony at the Queenstown Memorial Centre.

Some were the first graduates of the machinery learning fundamentals course, a new 16-week certificate QRC started offering last year.

QRC chief executive Charlie Phillips congratulated the graduates and commended them on the tight-knit community they had helped create at the college.

Queenstown councillor and iFly (adventure business) boss Matt Wong made the graduation address, encouraging graduates to keep the friends they had made close and figure out how best to apply themselves to the world.

About 80 graduated in person yesterday, with another eight in absentia, already away starting their new adventures.
