Pitching in for planting season

Doing their bit during the Wakatipu Reforestation Trust's planting day at Whitechapel Rd, near Arrowtown, on Saturday are Renee Grove, Noah Bayliss, Gavin Finn and Sam Bayliss, of Queenstown.

During the first planting morning of the autumn season, almost 60 volunteers put 750 plants in the ground, moved mulch, watered new plants and weeded around the older trees planted at the site over the past three years.

Trust conservation co-ordinator Nita Smith said four more replanting days are planned around the Wakatipu over the next month, including one this Saturday at Lake Hayes west.
