Meetings will be held at the St Patrick's Church tonight and at St Joseph's Church, in Queenstown, on Thursday night, where the project will be explained and people will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The Otago Daily Times reported in July the ''Olive Leaf'' - mooted by architect Fred van Brandenburg - would be funded by donations and constructed on land beside the St Patrick's Church, on the corner of Hertford and Merioneth Sts.
The building was intended to provide living quarters on the lower level, which would be about 2m below ground level. The upper level was intended primarily as a parish hall, but could be used for a variety of events, including mini conferences, wedding celebrations, funerals, a small sports hall or an exhibition space.
The project, however, would proceed only once funding was in place.
While it was supported, in principal, by Bishop Colin Campbell, others in the community signed a petition - sent to the bishop in March - in opposition.
The primary concerns were that Mr van Brandenburg's proposal did not adhere to the Arrowtown Design Guidelines 2016 and objectives included in the Arrowtown Residential Historic Management Zone.
Both meetings begin at 7.30pm.
