One of two Queenstown properties sold after being placed in receivership earlier this year has a new name and a new on-site manager.

Hidden Lodge is a four-suite "exclusive retreat" on a 490sq m property next to reserve land in Sunshine Bay, and was formerly known as Evergreen Lodge.

The on-site manager is Claudia Bartsch, who began in her role late last month.

Jessica Brunell and Murray Boyes, both of Christchurch, bought the property — a Supreme New Zealand Tourism Award winner — in April.

The pair have since reviewed and refined the offering to guests and have rebranded — the new name chosen in part because guests at the lodge were able to see Hidden Island in Lake Wakatipu.

"We’ve worked hard through the winter to establish our new way forward at Hidden Lodge," Mr Boyes said.

"The appointment of Claudia was crucial.

"We’re looking forward to a busy summer and are well advanced in our marketing plans for 2017 and beyond."

Ms Bartsch had extensive management experience in five and six-star properties in Queenstown, Fiji and her native Germany, where she gained a certificate of expert in hotel business from the Ritterplan School of Hotel Management in Goettingen.

Ms Brunell said she was "delighted" to have someone with Ms Bartsch’s range of skills managing Hidden Lodge.

"She has a diversity of experiences, including restaurant and operations management positions.

"Her skills and wealth of knowledge are perfect for the intimate and welcoming environment we provide."

Evergreen Lodge, as it was previously known, and Remarkables Mountain Lodge, in Kingston Rd, were sold by tender for a total of $3.87million earlier this year after the lodge companies and their sole shareholding company, Sleep Overs Ltd, were placed in receivership. All three companies were placed in liquidation in September.
