Name suppression for company director facing drugs charges

A Queenstown company director charged with multiple drug dealing offences has had his name suppressed.

The 46-year-old appeared in the Queenstown District Court yesterday, where Judge Deidre Orchard granted him interim name suppression so he could tell his school-aged children.

"I’m afraid this is one of those sudden circumstances for people who appear in court for serious offending — the family suffer", Judge Orchard said.

No plea was entered and he was remanded on bail, with a curfew, until next month.

He has been charged with offering methamphetamine, ecstasy and LSD for sale in the resort town over an 18-month period.

Another man and a woman charged in relation to the offending have yet to appear.
