Two motorcyclists were injured in a crash outside the AJ Hackett Bungy operation near Queenstown this afternoon.

The pair were taken to Lakes District Hospital with moderate leg and facial injuries after the crash - which also involved a car - about 100m from the bridge on the Gibbston Highway.

Police closed the highway for about an hour, and fire volunteers diverted traffic through the bungy operation's car park.

A Wellington-based police media adviser said police were thankful to the company's staff, who suspended operations immediately after the crash and sent first aid staff to the scene.
