The 31-year-old chiropractor, who’s originally from France, finished second female in 4 hours 42 minutes in the recent Nutbuster on a rain-affected up-and-down course in North Canterbury.
She says she recovers quite quickly from the local Shotover Moonlight Mountain Marathon, but after this event she couldn’t move the next day.
She’s only in her fourth year motorcycling, inspired by her partner, top former motocross rider Scott Columb.
"I’m pretty fit but I’m not strong, and a motorbike’s strong — it requires so much strength."
The hard enduro’s hardest part, she says, was constantly falling off her 118kg Honda CRF and having to push or lift it.
The constant mental focus required was also draining, Stachowicz says.
"I didn’t have a friend to do it with so I felt quite lonely sometimes."
For her troubles, she did however receive a ‘nut’ medallion for completing the course.
