Mandela Day celebrates achievements

Wakatipu Plunket hosted a Nelson Mandela International Day on Sunday, organised by Lakes District Multicultural Council (LDMC). Labour MP Priyanca Radhakrishnan attended.

LDMC secretary Sunitha Karunakaran said the group came together to ``remember a great man who brought peace and unity to South Africa during his time as president''. Mandela Day is traditionally July 18 but as that is a Wednesday, they chose to celebrate it on Sunday.
