Two Christchurch men were rescued by police yesterday evening after becoming lost on a track near Queenstown's Skyline gondola.
Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka, of Queenstown, said the men called for help about 5.40pm after losing their way on the Ben Lomond Trail.
They became concerned because they were ``near a drop'' and the track was slippery, Snr Sgt Enoka said.
They were found by ground searchers within an hour, about 1km from the gondola's top station.
The pair, aged 24 and 28, did not require medical attention.
They had done the right thing by calling for help and then staying where they were, she said.
The Ben Lomond Trail is a walking and cycling track on the hillsides above downtown Queenstown.
