An Australian tourist was removed from a plane and arrested for allegedly threatening staff on board a flight from Queenstown Airport yesterday.
The 48-year-old man was heading back to Australia on a Virgin flight but allegedly became loud and abusive to flight attendants.
Sergeant Kate Pirovano, of Queenstown, said the man was "intoxicated and had to be removed'' from the aircraft about 4pm.
He was charged with speaking in a threatening manner.
Sgt Pirovano said he would likely appear at Invercargill District Court this week.
"It goes to show you have to behave yourself on planes.''
