It was previously owned American billionaire Peter Thiel, who bought it from the original owner, then-Queenstown developer Rod Neilsen, through his company Second Star Ltd, for about $4.8million in 2011.
Now, after being listed around last August, it has been bought by a trustee company linked to prominent Auckland property investor Paul Reid, which paid $6.85million, including $40,000 for the chattels.
In another life, in the 2000s, Mr Reid played Marshall Heywood in Shortland Street and fronted pop-punk band Rubicon.
He has since attracted attention as a serial buyer and seller of Auckland apartments, and also bought St Kevin’s Arcade and Elliott Stables in that city.
Last August, it was revealed he was behind a company that had bought Dunedin’s Meridian Mall.
