Police and paramedics were called to Little Willy's scooter hire business in Shotover St about 5.45pm yesterday.
Constable Dan Andrew said the woman was taken to hospital.
''She's all right at this stage but they're obviously checking her neck and back, her spine,'' Const Andrew said.
''She's just come off the bike.''
Little Willy's only opened last month. It has a fleet of Aricc City Master 50cc scooters from China, which have become a familiar sight on the resort's streets.
Business co-owner Fraser Hepburn said the woman ''basically just lost control''.
''She didn't crash into anything, just came off.
''We check their driving licences but she can't have been overly confident. She was in shock afterwards.''
Police were unable to confirm her age or nationality.
