Heavy snowfalls over the last week have provided sufficient cover to ensure all areas of the Remarkables skifield are now open.

Remarkables ski area manager Ross Lawrence yesterday told the Queenstown Times that with the opening of the Ozone Tubing Park last weekend, and the additional snowfall, all of the groomed runs were now open.

"The snow is really good quality and we are always hoping for more, which will enable people to go off-piste a bit more, but as far as we are concerned, everything else is open," Mr Lawrence said.

Mr Lawrence was positive about the number of New Zealand skiers and snowboarders at the mountain, which got a boost over the past two weeks from the school holidays.

He said it would be "interesting" to see how visitor numbers were next week, but was confident they would stay strong, with "heavy bookings" still coming from the Australian market.

This Saturday the first event of the Slopestyle Series will be run. It comprises four competitions in the Dirty Dog Terrain Park, and has twice previously been postponed due to inclement weather.
