Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Clive Geddes has not made up his mind whether to run for a fourth term.
"No-one believes me, but I haven't decided to run. My family are going to be in Queenstown over the weekend and we're all going to sit around the table and figure out what we're going to be doing over the next three years and work out whether the mayoralty will fit into that," he said.
He said he would make an announcement today.
Wanaka councillors John S. Wilson and Lyal Cocks both told the Otago Daily Times recently they were considering standing for election as mayor and were waiting to hear of Mr Geddes' intentions.
Queenstown ward councillor Vanessa van Uden is the only confirmed candidate to have put her name forward for the position of mayor of the district.
