They came — in big numbers — as the 2024 Luma event in Queenstown over the weekend displayed some eye-catching night sights.

The event at the Queenstown Gardens started in 2016 and continues to draw people in. The event brings together light, sound and performance artists.

This year’s event had a theme of Arbora, which is translated to "a life in the trees".

The event attracted a great crowd during the four days it was open to the public, from Friday to Monday.

All up, 32,000 people attended the event over those days, with Saturday and Sunday being the most popular days. The crowd was 2500 up on last year, with good weather over most of the long weekend helping to get people along.

A review of the event would be carried out but there was confidence the event would be back next year.
